Stadium Construction Hit by Union Strike

There are rumours that Tottenham’s construction of a new 60,000 seater stadium could be delayed as a result of a strike action by Wolffkran. The club have been able to demolish the old White Hart Lane in order to construct a new stadium, which is being constricted at a cost of £ 700 million.

Once built, it may be the England’s most expensive stadium. It is expected to significantly boost Tottenham’s profile across the world while also bringing in significant revenue in the way of matchday income. Tottenham are currently playing at the new Wembley as a temporary home before the construction work ends.

Once built, it may be the England’s most expensive stadium. It is expected to significantly boost Tottenham’s profile across the world while also bringing in significant revenue in the way of matchday income. Tottenham are currently playing at the new Wembley as a temporary home before the construction work ends.

Spurs are expected to enter into the new home in time for the start of the 2018-19 season, with tickets to their opeing fixture (in the close season) soon to be available on 1st4Footballtickets.com.

However, it appears that work on the stadium could be delayed after the workers union recently came up with a 24-hour strike over a dispute of pay. HTC Wolffkran are the company behind the construction of the major works, and it is understood that they have not been returning to the negotiation table after the first round of talks failed. The union members recently came up with the vote in order to carry out the strike. The workers are eligible for a two year contract where there is a 3% increase in wages.

“Despite seeking fresh talks to avoid strike action, we have been unable to reach a satisfactory agreement and therefore have no option but to take strike action. Our members are simply not in a position to meekly accept an imposed pay increase, which is a pay cut in real terms compared to the current rate of RPI. This so called increase is in effect a substantial reduction when compared to the increases that workers are receiving in the industry,” said a construction officer for Unite regarding the strike.

Tottenham will be hoping to stay in the Champions League next season so that they can maximise revenues at the new stadium, but so far they have struggled so far to repeat last season’s form.

BOURNEMOUTH WANT MASON

Bournemouth are weighing up a £4million move for Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder Ryan Mason according to reports by The Mirror.

According to The Mirror “Mason’s name is understood to have cropped up in talks between Spurs and Bournemouth over striker Callum Wilson.

“Spurs are keen on Wilson, but he is believed to be one of a number of frontmen behind Marseille’s Belgium international Michy Batshuayi on their list of striker targets.”

BOURNEMOUTH WANT MASON

According to The Mirror “Mason’s name is understood to have cropped up in talks between Spurs and Bournemouth over striker Callum Wilson.

“Spurs are keen on Wilson, but he is believed to be one of a number of frontmen behind Marseille’s Belgium international Michy Batshuayi on their list of striker targets.”

The midfielder started just eight league games during Spurs’ title bid, before they eventually finished in third place. Mason could be allowed to move on after falling down the pecking order at the club. With the recent expected changes anticipated at the club, Mason might see less opportunities, hence the move by the English Premier League side to acquire him ahead of next season.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is ready to offer Mason a fresh start as they look to build on their first Premier League campaign that saw them clinch survival. Having taken a few weeks off to watch the climax of the Rugby Union season – where there was a shock Heineken Cup winner that even the likes of betting odds specialist StanJames didn’t see oming, Howe is back to concentrating on football.

Mason’s name is understood to have cropped up in talks between Spurs and Bournemouth over striker Callum Wilson. Spurs are keen on Wilson who is 24 years of age, but he is believed to be one of a number of frontmen behind Marseille’s Belgium international Michy Batshuayi on their list of striker targets.

Also, instead of joining Bournemouth on a permanent deal, the player might be offered on loan. Bournemouth finished two spots from the relegation zone this season that just ended and hope to stock up ahead of the coming season.

Mason has had a not so good season as against the decent spell he enjoyed in the 2014/2015 season. Injuries and competition for a spot on the starting squad restricted the player to just eight games this season. He has scored just one goal and created 10 chances in 22 Premier League appearances this campaign.

Spurs want to keep Mauricio Pochettino

Without any doubt, this Premier League season has been one of the more shocking ones in the history of the English competition.

Spurs want to keep Mauricio Pochettino

Unexpected things have been occurring throughout the entire season that no one was really anticipating to happen.

Jose Mourinho’s dismissal as the coach of the Chelsea after the club was in danger of being relegated, Leicester City’s impeccable charge for the top spot of the Premier League are just a few of the more surprising things that this season will probably be remembered for.

Tottenham Hotspur is also having a remarkable season as the team of Mauricio Pochettino is currently positioned in the 2nd spot. This stellar campaign of Tottenham Hotspur has turned Pochettino into one of the most coveted managers in England as there are a number of clubs that are now interested in launching offers for the Argentine coach.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are a few of the Premier League clubs that are rumored to be interested in snatching Mauricio Pochettino and turning him into the manager of their respective squads but Tottenham Hotspur don’t want this to happen as the head chiefs of Tottenham are believed to be in talks with Pochettino hoping to extend the contract of the Argentine manager for a few more years.

Mauricio Pochettino currently has a contract with Tottenham Hotspur that extends until 2019 but there are already plans being made by the club as they want to reward the efforts and recent success that the Argentine manager has had. The bookmakers clearly think he’ll sign up for another deal at Spurs, as the odds of him staying are on a par with the favourite winning in the Derby at StanJames.

These talks and contract negotiations will be held after the current season reaches it’s end as the head officials of Tottenham Hotspur don’t want to distract Mauricio Pochettino or his team from their main objective of this season which is to win the Premier League.

FUTURE UNSURE

Despite what will happen concerning the coaching position in Tottenham, there still are a number of players that have been linked with the White Hart Lane club.

Adam Lallana of Southampton is a priority of the chairman of Tottenham, Daniel Levy and an offer of the region of €20 million is expected to be done in the summer in order for Levy to lure Lallana away from Southampton.

Another target of Daniel Levy is Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku and according to the agent of the player, Christophe Henrotay has already spoken with Levy with the possibility of Lukaku joining Tottenham in the near future.

“I’m looking for a club for Romelu Lukaku and yes, I’ve talked to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy once but that doesn’t mean Romelu will definitely join Spurs’’. The agent of Lukaku said.

Since Sherwood arrived to Tottenham, Adebayor has been enjoying a revival in his career and has even sparked the attention of a few clubs who are willing to sign the former Arsenal player into their squad but according to Tim Sherwood, he believes that Adebayor will remain where he is right now.

“Adebayor’s family is settled in London and he just wants to help us win as many games as possible. I’m sure he wants to be part of the future here. I don’t think he wants to keep moving clubs.” Sherwood stated.

Adebayor’s career as a Tottenham player was non-existent when Andre Villas-Boas was in charge of the Premier League club as the Portuguese coach did not give him any significant amount of playing time but Sherwood has changed that in a radical way.

The 30 years old Togolese forward went from not playing any important role for Tottenham to being transformed into the club’s current top goal-scorer.

SPURS REPLACE BALE

When Gareth Bale signed with Real Madrid, Tottenham tried to fill in the shoes of the Welshman by signing new players and one of them was Erik Lamela as he arrived from AS Roma with a price tag of €25.8 but the 22 years old Argentinean player was hit with a back injury that has left him out of action since December 29.

The medical staff of Tottenham has not announced any estimated date when Lamela will be able to come back and this puts in danger his chance of playing for Argentina in the upcoming World Cup.

Lamela has not been able to make the kind of impact that Sherwood wanted since signing him as he has only scored 3 goals for the Premier League club since making his arrival.
Tottenham has joined the race to sign Loic Remy from QPR and even though the future of Tim Sherwood is uncertain, the tactician has revealed his intentions of boosting his squad when the transfer window re-opens.

Roberto Soldado still has not found his form in White Hart Lane and Adebayor is a player with too much highs and lows for a club in the top 5 spots of the Premier League to depend on which is why they are still keeping their eyes opened for new players.

The Frenchman Loic Remy has already admitted his desire on making a move to a big name club such as Tottenham but a transfer away from QPR would depend if the Championship club is willing to release the player.

Tottenham have some busy next weeks ahead of him as their upcoming results will not only decide the future of Tim Sherwood but will also be the main factor if they are able on entering either the Champions League or Europa League for the upcoming season.

SHERWOOD IS CONFIDENT

Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has expressed his confidence that his club can beat the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal in the remainder of the season to finish in the top four. Tottenham spent more than £ 100 million in revamping the squad in the hope of finishing in the top four.

Even though they recouped most of the money through the sale of Gareth Bale, it is still a very sizeable investment from the club in the summer, as they look to get a Champions League spot next season. However, a poor start to the campaign meant that Liverpool have taken the advantage towards finishing in the top four.

Tottenham are already five points behind the top four with only 10 matches remaining in the season. Further, they have a tough run of fixtures coming up with matches against Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool in the remainder of the season. Many reckon that the tough fixture list compared to their rivals puts Tottenham at a disadvantage compared to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United. Yet, Sherwood, who replaced Andre Villas-Boas midway through the season, says that Tottenham can come out much stronger despite the tough upcoming matches.

“I don’t know about Chelsea being more ambitious than us, we’re going to the Bridge and that’s definitely tough, but sometimes expectancy works against you. Some of our fans might have been rubbing their hands expecting a few goals against Cardiff, but it doesn’t work like that. You’ve got to earn the right for everything. Sometimes when the expectation is not with you, it makes it a little bit easier,” said Sherwood, whose Tottenham team make the short trip to Stamford Bridge next weekend.

Tottenham also have to look at the Europa league quarter-final matches against Benfica in between the league encounters.

AVB PROVED WRONG

Since Andre Villas-Boas was in charge of Tottenham, the playing time of Emmanuel Adebayor was severely limited as he spent more time on the sidelines than on the playing field and during the few moments he was indeed on the pitch with the main squad of Tottenha, his performances left more to be desired.

His spell with Tottenham is now more enjoyable as Tim Sherwood seems to have given him a light of hope. The new role that Tim Sherwood has in the club was good news for the Togelese forward who is now starting to perform like the days back where he played in Arsenal.

Adebayor was on the verge of leaving Tottenham some years ago when he was just too frustrated by the plans of Villas-Boas. Sherwood considers Adebayor to be a great player and has already promised the player on giving him plenty of time on the pitch but the rumors still continue on emerging involving the exit of Adebayor from the club.
Al Ain is one of the clubs interested in signing the former Arsenal player as well as some other from the Premier League but no official bids or approaches have been made concerning the future of Adebayor.

The 23 years old player of Tottenham, Danny Rose who currently is out on loan at Sunderland spoke about the change that Adebayor and Sherwood have made for the club.
“No disrespect to Andre but playing one up front has been a bit frustrating and hard for Soldado at times. He has been like a new signing. He has scored four goals in his last five games, which is brilliant for us. Considering he didn’t play a game from pre-season until a few weeks ago, his energy levels have actually been brilliant’’.

“There were no questions about his attitude during his first season under Harry Redknapp and I can’t speak for last season because I wasn’t here. When I came back pre-season, his attitude was fine. Obviously there was a bit of a disagreement between him and Andre but it is finished now and we are all grateful he is back in the team.”

Injury relief for Christian Eriksen of Tottenham

There were some tensions that £ 11.5 million signing from Ajax Christian Eriksen might be on the sideline till next year after hobbling out of Denmark’s 2 – 1 victory on Friday against Norway. Recent scans have showed that Christian has suffered a sprained ankle injury, Earlier it was thought that it was a more severe rupture to his ligaments.

Now, he is aiming Tottenham’s EPL match at White Hart Lane against Liverpool on 15th December for his return.

According to reports, a Tottenham statement said: “Following an MRI scan on Monday it has been determined that Christian suffered a sprain of the lateral ankle ligaments. The scan showed no sign of ruptured ligaments, which will result in a shorter period of recovery for the attacking midfielder.”

Christian Eriksen has mixed start to life at White Hart Lane following his arrival late in August. In his debut match against Norwich, he was the man of the match. Later he netted a Europa League victory against Norwegian team Tromso.

He, however, lost his spot in Andre Villas-Boas’ side to Lewis Holtby following a dip in his form and had only returned to starting team before he got injured.

Roberto Soldado, the Tottenham striker, admitted that he has not been at his best form since going to England. Tottenham has spent £ 26 million to grab the Spanish player from Valencia in the summer, following fifty seven goals in his past 2 seasons at Mestalla.

ITS BEEN BETTER

The Tottenham Hotspur manager, Andre Villas-Boas, has said that his relationship with Jose Mourinho is not as good as it used to be a few years back.

Villas-Boas who is just 35 years of age at the moment was Mourinho’s assistant for quite some time and worked under him at 3 different clubs. They decided to part ways 4 years back in 2009.

Villas-Boas will be up against his former boss on Saturday as his team Tottenham will take on Chelsea at White Hart lane.

Villas-Boas will be up against his former boss on Saturday as his team Tottenham will take on Chelsea at White Hart lane.

In the press conference ahead of that game, when Villas-Boas was asked about his relationship with Mourinho, he said, “We used to have a fantastic relationship a few years ago, but, things have changed now. Our relationship is not the same.”

“The reason behind our split was that I wanted a change in my role. I wanted to be moved to a position much closer to the manager so that I could do that extra bit for him. But, he thought that there was no need to change my role. So, eventually, we decided to part ways.”

Villas-Boas also said that he wants a bit more from himself and from his team this season.

This is the first time that Villas-Boas is managing a team for the second successive season. His tenures at his previous 3 clubs were limited to one season only, but, here at Tottenham, the Portuguese manager has been given the opportunity to continue for the second season as well.

Villa-Boas said, “I want more out of myself and my team this season. We have signed some innovative players and we are much stronger this time around. Hopefully, it will be another good season for us.”

Tottenham is currently at no. 3 in the Premier League points table with 12 points.

SPURS CHASE SOLDADO

Tottenham only recently invested heavily in the transfer market by bringing Brazilian midfielder Paulinho for close to £ 20 million.

However, they appear to set to take the transfer spending beyond the £ 50 million mark this summer after manager Andre Villas-Boas has said that the club are interested in bringing Valencia striker Roberto Soldado. Villas-Boas has stated on several occasions that Tottenham are extremely light on the striker front.

Villas-Boas has stated on several occasions that Tottenham are extremely light on the striker front.

The club has only Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor as the recognised as strikers. It is thought that Villas-Boas is not a huge fan of Adebayor after having not seen him perform to the best last season.

Adebayor has been linked with a move to Turkey in the last few weeks. The big news, though, comes in the form of the interest in Soldado, who has been amongst the top strikers in Spain for the last three years. The former Real Madrid striker has helped Valencia sustain a push for the Champions League spot despite being relatively low-budget.

He has a € 30 million release clause in his contract and Valencia have stated that they will sell the player only at this price. Villas-Boas has revealed that negotiations have been taking place between the two parties over the last few weeks.

“At the moment, he’s just one of the players we are interested in. It’s not a lie to anybody that we’ve been looking for a striker to strengthen our squad and to have more strength in depth. Roberto is one of the players we have been following and his career speaks for itself. He’s a great striker. But there isn’t a deal being struck at the moment, it’s just interest and conversations,” said the Tottenham manager.

Even striker Jermain Defoe said a few weeks ago that he wanted the club to sign a new striker.
