Tottenham have a huge task on their hands this summer as Manchester United have made Luka Modric their number one transfer target. The little Croatian has been sitting in the Tottenham Hospitality seats recently, rather than on the pitch, and has been targeted by the red devils who are prepared to offer in the region of £25million to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Luka Modric signed for Spurs from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008, after performing exceptionally well in the European championship with Croatia. The Croatian put pen to paper shortly after the tournament had ended, on a six-year contract in a fee worth £16.5 million.

Luka Modric will have to weigh up his options. A lot will depend on where Spurs finish come the end of the season. If Spurs manage to claim the illustrious fourth spot then there is more of a possibility that the Croatian wizard will stay put. However, if they end up finishing fifth, then Luka Modric could be tempted to move to the red devils next season to play champions league football.

Modric leaving Spurs would be like Steven Gerrard leaving Anfield, something unthinkable and beyond comprehension. Selling players of Modric’s quality certainly won’t go down well with the Spurs faithful.
