TOTTENHAM WIN BIG AGAINST WOLFSBERGER
Tottenham Hotspur have moved a step closer to the round of 16 in the Europa League after the big win over their hosts, Wolfsberger AC of Austria. The two teams met in Budapest, the Hungary capital for the first leg of their round of 32 clash. Tottenham Hotspur benefited from an excellent first half showing to take a giant step towards securing a place in the last 16 of the competition.
Son Heung-Min gave Spurs the lead via a header from a Gareth Bale assist on 13 minutes before the Welshman graduated from provider to goalscorer on 26 minutes thereby recording a goal and an assist in a Spurs shirt for the first time since 2013. Brazilian winger Lucas Moura added a third goal on 34 minutes to cap a dominant display for his team.
Spurs took their foot off the pedal in the second half and that allowed their hosts back into the game through a Michael Liendl penalty at the start of the second half after the rash challenge from Frenchman Moussa Sissoko. Half-time substitute Carlos Vinicius killed any chance of a fightback from Wolfsbergerwith the fourth Tottenham Hotspur goal two minutes from time ahead of the second leg next week Thursday.
